About us
The concept of the Folding Bike Challenge™ originated when some of the Action Challenge team were driving though France specking a conventional cycling event for a client. In the back of the car was a trusty folding bike usually reserved for commuting, but used here to check out hotels and restaurants tucked away within the back streets of larger towns. It dawned that these versatile and well engineered machines were capable of far more than just the little hops around town. What about a challenge to show what man and folding machine could really achieve, with a bit of fun en route? And so The Folding Bike Challenge™ was born.
Since 1997 Action Challenge has been organising challenge events for charities, corporate clients and private groups all over the world. We're not an ‘off-the–shelf' tour operator and there is nothing standard about our events. Our challenges have taken people on journeys they never dreamed they would do, from trekking across the Himalaya to cycling through the Rift Valley in Africa, pushing people to the limit on a Triventure in the Pyrenees to sledging through Finland with huskies. Now we have found a place in our line-up for the Folding Bike Challenge™.
Nothing pleases us more than seeing a group of trekkers bonding together and celebrating with each other on making it to the top of a mountain pass or craggy summit, and perhaps now a hardened troupe of folding-bikers pedalling down the Champs Elysees honking their hooters in jubilation! This is what gets us out of bed in the morning and it's why our motto is.
"Of all the paths you choose in life, make sure some of them are dirt."
